Astronomy is perhaps one of the most captivating science specialties. From images of nebulae that rival the greatest works of modern art to concepts as philosophically meaningful as the origins of life and destiny of the planet Earth, Astronomy touches the human heart as much as it touches the human intellect. In the IYA, we will be sharing with the public not only the science of astronomy, but also the arts and entertainment that it has inspired.
Two of the key projects in the area are the documentary film “400 years of the Telescope” (Interstellar Studios) and the traveling art exhibit “From Earth to the Universe.” You can learn more about each of these programs through the links at right.
To help get word of the IYA out to the public, the International Astronomical Union has produced a film trailer. Please view this trailer and feel free to share it in your classes and theaters. (The trailer is available in many
additional formats and resolutions
at the IYA International website.)
